wild thoughts

so jared and I saw Where the Wild Things Are and we really liked it. We didn’t really have any ideas about it before we went except we had heard that it is NOT a children’s movie. I would agree with that, except I wouldn’t really call it an adults’ movie either. I think it’s a movie for adults about their inner childhood angst…sort of.

I mean, this book came out when we were all kids so it’s kind of made for all of our childhoods and not children now, does that make sense. Anyway, I liked where they went with it especially because of the kids I work with. It’s almost as if they took a look at the type of child that would imagine a world like he did in the book and that type of child is one that has some issues. Each of the “wild things” that he meets are bits and pieces of his personality and that’s what really makes the story deep. They have fun, get some of the wild out, but deep down are lonely and want someone to lead them and be their friend.

So we liked the story, but even more than that, the kid who played Max was definitely a good actor, the cinematography was amazing and the soundtrack was awesome! We also like that they used a lot of practical effects and not too many computer graphics.

So see for yourself! And if you have seen it, what are you thoughts?

Nurtured by Nature – A little sneak peek

What do an otter, a wallaby and an armadillo have in common? They all live in Valley Center! We had such a fun time shooting pics of all the animals at Nurtured by Nature to update their website and pamphlets and we even got to swim with the otters when we were done 🙂 So here’s a sneak peek of a part of one of the other animals. The only animal I didn’t brave petting…

favorite things – part 2

not much is better than a delicious cup of steaming hot coffee and a delectable dessert to compliment it. seriously, there is something about it that makes me feel nostalgic…for what, i’m not sure but a feeling of nostalgia always overwhelms me when i’m sitting in a cute cafe with my hands wrapped around a warm mug. i just love watching all the people come and go, smelling the sweet fragrances and listening to all the fragmented conversations. it’s one of my favorite things to do when i want to observe.simply observe.

i know it’s weird to be talking about hot  coffee when it’s so hot right now but that’s because we were just  visiting winter last week. yup, a week of winter for us…guess where we  went? i’ll give you a clue – think cows, thermal pools and hobbits 🙂

favorite things – part 1

as you can probably tell, we’re really into trees! i’m not really sure what brought on our love for trees or why we both love them so much but there is just something about them that draws us in. i think part of it is how unique they all are, like they all have different personalities. this particular tree we found on our first anniversary out at the salton sea. se decided to drive around the entire sea (which takes quite a while) and we found this lonely tree in a completely deserted area right as the sun was setting. there’s just something really interesting and eerie about it…like it’s sad or lonely.so i introduced myself.

what’s your favorite creation?
